Asian Problems
At the moment, I hate being Asian. In fact, the main reason I created this blog was to just get my feelings out. (It feels pretty good). I know what you guys will say, "Everyone goes through problems in life". But, I just feel like Asian guys sometimes go through a little more. (At least in high school). Yes, we may be smarter than most at science and math however, that's definitely not going to get you at the popular table at lunch. Also, it's harder to get jobs and into colleges for Asians. For example, they are held to a little bit of a higher standard when applying to colleges and a lot of companies are trying to hire American Caucasian workers. So, they would hire a less qualified white American than an Asian or Indian employee. If you're wondering where I get these stereotypes, I'm living them. I experience these daily, as do my friends and family. High school can be especially rough. In a place where everyone wants to "fit in", it's hard when your skin and hair is a different color. No matter what clothes you wear, or cologne, people will always be able to see that your different. I live in a predominately white town (Midwest) and so I often get very racist remarks at school. People make fun of my eyes, my skin color, and other stereotypes. It can be especially rough in a locker-room. (If you know what I mean) Especially because I was born in Asia. For example, today a kid made a map of the classroom with seats. He then highlighted the spots where minorities sat. REALLY? This is 2013 people! You're 17 years old! Grow up please. Anyways, the sheet got passed around the class and everyone laughed as they figured it out. I felt so low. Finally, I feel like Asian guys almost never get girls from other races. Asian girls often date and marry white or hispanic guys. But, I've never seen it vice-versa. I think that they're are too many myths about Asian guys (small where it counts, bad kissers, feminine). But, I'm not saying that most kids are like this. Most are respectful and even my friends. I'm normal like everyone else. I love sports (could talk your ear off), and have huge aspirations. Well, looks like it's time to go, I would love to hear feedback and I hope to blog some more (Blog?).
